A man spewed anti-Asian slurs at a woman who was walking her dog in lower Manhattan, and then spat at her, cops said.
The 33-year-old victim was walking her pooch around 8 p.m. Wednesday at 12 Spring Street a few blocks from Chinatown when the stranger called her a “f—–g c—k, and spat in her direction, cops said.
The woman asked him why he did that and he responded, “Stupid c—k b—h,” and told her to “Go back to your country,” police said.
The NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force is investigating, cops said.
The incident comes as hate crimes against Asians have been increasing nationally and two days after six Asian women were gunned down in Atlanta, Georgia. Those killings prompted the NYPD to increase its presence in the city’s Asian American communities, though Georgia investigators said racism did not appear to be the motive behind the killings.
