The Duchess of Sussex’s mother is ‘overjoyed’ at the arrival of her first grandson after daughter Meghan and Prince Harry welcome the Royal baby today.
Meghan went into labour this morning after being more than one week overdue. This afternoon she and the Duke announced the birth of their son on their official Instagram account.
The former actress’s mother, Doria Ragland, is now with the new parents at their Frogmore Cottage residence in Windsor, Berkshire.

The Duke of Sussex beamed this afternoon as he announced the birth of his first baby following the delivery early this morning when Meghan was more than a week overdue
The Royal Family’s official Twitter account announced Ms Ragland’s joy at the birth of a healthy baby.
‘The Duchess’s mother, Doria Ragland, who is overjoyed by the arrival of her first grandchild, is with Their Royal Highnesses at Frogmore Cottage,’ a statement said. ‘Her Royal Highness and the baby are both doing well.’
A beaming Prince Harry announced the birth of his son, who weighed 7lbs 3oz at 5.26am.

Speaking from Windsor, the Duke of Sussex said: ‘I’m very excited to announce that Meghan and myself had a baby boy this morning, a very healthy baby boy. I’m so incredibly proud of my wife.’
In a statement, Buckingham Palace said Meghan and her child were ‘both doing well’, and that the Queen was ‘delighted’ with the news.
An overjoyed Prince Harry said: ‘It’s brilliant, I’m absolutely thrilled. We’re really grateful for all the love and support shown to us. It’s been overdue so we have had a little bit of time to think about names so that’s the next bit.
I haven’t been at many births. This is my first birth. It was amazing and absolutely incredible. I’m incredibly proud of my wife.
‘Every father and parent will say your baby is absolutely amazing but this little thing is absolutely to die for. I’m over the moon.’
Ms Ragland’s appearance at Frogmore Cottage suggests that Meghan opted for a home birth.
She and Harry previously announced that they wished to celebrate in private as a family before announcing the birth to the world’s media.
