Michael Flynn urged Mueller critic to ‘keep pressure on’ while cooperating in case

Former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn urged a congressional critic of the Mueller investigation to “keep the pressure on” even as Flynn was cooperating on the case, according to a published report.

Flynn made the comment to Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Florida) in April 2018 immediately after the congressman appeared on Fox News to slam Mueller’s probe, according to CNN.

“You stay on top of what you’re doing,” Flynn reportedly wrote in a Twitter direct message. “Your leadership is so vital for our country now. Keep the pressure on.”

The communication came four months after Flynn pleaded guilty to charges of lying to the FBI–and while he was serving as a cooperating witness for Mueller.

Flynn sent a second message to Gaetz in February, on the day that Attorney General William Barr was confirmed–a pair of GIFs showing a bald eagle and an American flag.

Gaetz, who has been a harsh critic of Mueller, told CNN he did not respond to Flynn’s messages.

Flynn has not yet been sentenced as he continues to cooperate with cases that arose from Mueller’s probe.
