A MUM told last night how her baby got so fascinated by Amazon Echo that her first word was “Alexa”.
Eleven-month-old Annabelle Gates had spent hours watching her three-year-old brother Lucas playing with the gizmo.
So when she started to speak, she didn’t say “mama” or “dada” like most kids but called out to Echo’s virtual assistant instead.
She even burbled “Alexa” as she was getting baptised last weekend.
Her mum Catherine, 26, a police worker from Blandford Forum, Dorset, said: “We started using it with the kids to play nursery rhymes and Baby Shark, which Annabelle loves.
“Lucas worked out how to use it himself and Annabelle always copies him.

“But it’s definitely not what we expected her first word to be — she’s such a modern baby.”
Copper dad Liam, 29, added: “It was quite a shock — but cute really.”
Annabelle has not mastered more words yet, so she can’t give Alexa commands. Catherine said: “Luckily I have a few months before she’s putting Baby Shark on repeat.”
