{"id":100939,"date":"2023-12-17T00:36:01","date_gmt":"2023-12-17T00:36:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/turbocelebrity.com\/?p=100939"},"modified":"2023-12-17T00:36:01","modified_gmt":"2023-12-17T00:36:01","slug":"idf-shot-dead-a-christian-mother-and-daughter-sheltering-in-church","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/turbocelebrity.com\/world-news\/idf-shot-dead-a-christian-mother-and-daughter-sheltering-in-church\/","title":{"rendered":"IDF &apos;shot dead a Christian mother and daughter sheltering in church&apos;"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1> Israel&#8217;s Defence Forces &#8216;shot dead a Christian mother and daughter as they sheltered at a Catholic Church in Gaza&#8217; just one day after mistakenly gunning down three hostages<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><span>An IDF sniper allegedly shot a mother and child sheltering in a church in Gaza<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Comes as the IDF launched probe into the accidental shooting of three hostages<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Israeli military killed a Christian mother and daughter sheltering in a Catholic church in Gaza City on Saturday, the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem has claimed.<\/p>\n<p>Nahida and her daughter, Samar, were shot &#8216;in cold blood&#8217; by a sniper as they walked to the Holy Family Parish in Gaza, the patriarch said in a statement, adding that the holy site had been struck three times by projectiles fired by an Israeli tank.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;One was killed as she tried to carry the other to safety,&#8217; the statement continued, adding that seven others were wounded by gunfire as they tried to protect others.<\/p>\n<p>The projectiles fired from the tank knocked out the building&#8217;s generator and fuel supplies, rendering the building housing dozens of disabled people uninhabitable, according to the patriarchate.\u00a0&#8216;The 54 disabled persons are currently displaced and without access to the respirators that some of them need to survive.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The IDF yesterday took responsibility for the accidental deaths of three hostages revealed to have been shouting &#8216;help&#8217; in Hebrew and waving white flags when they were gunned down earlier on Friday morning.<\/p>\n<p>Yotam Haim, 28,\u00a0Samer Fouad Talalka, 22, and\u00a0Alon Lulu Shamriz, 26, were killed in Gaza after Israeli troops mistakenly identified them as a &#8216;threat&#8217;, according to the IDF, one soldier believing the men moving towards him were trying to lure them into a trap.<\/p>\n<p>Both pro-Palestinian protestors in Europe and the families of hostages in Israel have mounted calls for a ceasefire. An IDF soldier, believing it was a trap, opened fire and shouted &#8216;terrorists!&#8217; to colleagues.<\/p>\n<p>IDF Spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said: &#8216;This is a tragic incident, the IDF bears responsibility. Israel in turn released 240 Palestinian prisoners.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 110 hostages have now been released &#8211; including those freed as part of separate deals with the Thai government and as a gesture to Russian president Vladimir Putin.<\/p>\n<p>Many families of captives have urged their government to do more to ensure their return.
