{"id":97332,"date":"2023-08-28T20:40:37","date_gmt":"2023-08-28T20:40:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/turbocelebrity.com\/?p=97332"},"modified":"2023-08-28T20:40:37","modified_gmt":"2023-08-28T20:40:37","slug":"cyclist-remco-evenepoel-crashes-into-woman-after-the-finish-line","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/turbocelebrity.com\/sport\/cyclist-remco-evenepoel-crashes-into-woman-after-the-finish-line\/","title":{"rendered":"Cyclist Remco Evenepoel crashes into woman after the finish line"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Belgian cyclist Remco Evenepoel is left with blood pouring down his face after nasty crash into a female fan following his Vuelta a Espana stage three win<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Cyclist Remco Evenepoel crashed into a female fan at the Vuelta a Espana\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>It came after he had crossed the finish line, after winning stage three of the race\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The Belgian was seen in a video standing up with blood pouring down his face\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Belgian cyclist Remco Evenepoel bizarrely crashed into a female fan after he powered to victory on the 158.5km third stage of the Veuelta a Espana on Sunday afternoon.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Soudal-Quickstep rider out sprinted Tour de France winner Jonas Vingegaard to claim an early victory in the tour, dominating the first summit finish, climbing the ascent of Arinsal in Andorra to take the red jersey and become the new overall leader of the race.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The 23-year-old, who is out to defend his title having been the overall winner at La Vuelta in 2022, celebrated his win as he crossed the finish line, taking his hands off the handles and raising his arms as the fans lining the track applauded him.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Coming into the fan village, the rider appeared to come down a hill towards a group of spectators and team-members still carrying plenty of speed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Unable to break in time the Belgian collided with a woman in a nasty crash and fell to the floor.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/08\/28\/19\/74803579-12454053-image-a-27_1693246345525.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Remco Evenepoel (pictured) won the third stage of the Vuelta a Espana but was involved in a crash after he crossed the finish line<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/08\/28\/20\/74803575-12454053-The_cyclist_sped_down_a_hill_after_winning_the_stage_and_collide-a-1_1693250180931.jpg\" height=\"425\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The cyclist collided with a women in the crowd just moments after winning the stage<\/p>\n<p>A video showed the rider had cut part of his eye-brow open with Evenepoel standing up afterwards as blood poured down the right side of his face.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He later released a statement on the Quickstep team&#8217;s Twitter page stating: &#8216;Hi everyone. I want to tell you all that I am doing okay. I also hope that the woman involved in the accident, slash, crash is also doing okay.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Then after all of that I want to thank you all for the support. I think it was a very beautiful victory to take. Just keep supporting us because we will need all of it in the next few weeks. Thank you.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to Eurosport the lady struck by the cyclist was a\u00a0Soigneur from Arkea Samsic.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He also added on his own Twitter account: &#8216;Vamosss!!! Epic moment for us here in Andorra, finishing off the first mountain battle after great teamwork.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;It will be special to be back in the red jersey tomorrow. #TheWolfpack<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I hope the woman is okay following the accident after the finish.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/08\/28\/19\/74803571-12454053-image-a-29_1693246360077.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>He suffered a nasty cut above his eye and said on the Soudal-Quickstep Twitter account that &#8216;he hoped the woman involved was okay&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/08\/28\/19\/74804377-12454053-image-a-30_1693246838584.jpg\" height=\"1030\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>He added the same words on his own Twitter feed while also stating: &#8216;It will be epic to be back in the red jersey tomorrow&#8217; as he now takes the overall group lead on the race<\/p>\n<p>According to Relevo, the rider was critical of the fact that there was curve after the finish line claiming it was a safety issue.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He said, per the Spanish outlet: &#8216;There was a curve 50 meters after the finish,&#8217; lamented the Soudal Quick-Step runner, very serious in front of the press.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Once again, it&#8217;s a matter of security.
