There are also three bridges visitors can cross over the flowing water and go right to the heart of the fountain, which are said to represent Diana's "quality and openness".<\/p>\n
The nation was left devastated when the news of Princess Diana's tragic death was announced on August 31, 1997.<\/p>\n
The much-loved Princess of Wales died after suffering fatal injuries in a\u00a0car crash in the Pont de l'Alma road tunnel in Paris.<\/p>\n
Her companion\u00a0Dodi Fayed,\u00a0and driver and security guard\u00a0Henri Paul were also killed in the crash.<\/p>\n
A number of memorials have been designed to honour Diana's life since her death, including the Diana Memorial Playground, The White Garden and The Princess Diana statue, which can all be found in the grounds of Kensington Palace.<\/p>\n
