Inside Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofields feud after NTA snub

It's no secret that Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield's once-close friendship has soured, with the former This Morning co-hosts believed to have drifted apart over recent months.

Holly, 42, who recently made her highly anticipated return to This Morning, was reportedly left blindsided earlier this year when Phillip, 61, admitted he'd had an affair with a young male colleague on the ITV show. His confession prompted ITV to cut all ties with the dad-of-two, causing him to leave his roles at This Morning and Dancing on Ice immediately.

The pair's rumoured feud looks be on-going, with Phillip unfollowing Holly on Instagram recently despite the mum-of-three still following him at the time of writing.

Phillip's unfollow comes just hours before this year's National Television Awards, which will take place tonight (5 September) at the O2 Arena in London.

He and Holly attend the event every year together, with This Morning usually taking home an award, but this year's bash will no doubt be a stark contrast to previous years, with Phillip thought not to be attending the event.

Both Holly and Phillip have been snubbed at this year's NTAs however, as they both missed out on a nomination for Best Presenter. Nevertheless, This Morning has still been nominated for Best Daytime Show despite recent controversies.

Phillip has been keeping a low profile since leaving This Morning earlier this year and has not appeared on any TV shows since his departure. He was spotted last month for the first time since the scandal, with snaps showing him enjoying a dinner date with This Morning guest Vanessa Feltz.

Holly and Phil's rumoured feud came to light at the same time rumours of Phillip's affair surfaced, with the disgraced TV presenter eventually admitting he'd lied to his co-host and denied the affair to her when she'd asked.

It's unclear if the duo have been in contact since their time on This Morning came to an end, but Phillip did previously tell how Holly had ignored his texts and he'd "let her down".

In an interview with The Sun, the TV presenter said: “I’ve lost my best friend. I let her down. I let that entire show down. I let the viewers down.

“Holly did not know (about the romance). And she was one of the first texts that I sent, to say, ‘I am so, so sorry that I lied to you’."

He added: “She didn’t reply and I understand why she didn’t reply, as well. So yeah. If anyone is in any way linking Holly to this; that is absolutely, wholly untrue."

It looks like the pair's rift may even get worse in the future, as reports claim Phillip is considering penning a tell-all memoir in light of his affair scandal.

A source for The Mirror revealed: "Phil has had several approaches by book publishers – including Hodder & Stoughton – about a new memoir, in which he talks more fully about This Morning, Holly [Willoughby], and how his career at ITV imploded.

"His account of this would be incredibly compelling, and no doubt lucrative, though at this stage money has not yet been discussed. Phil liked the approach from Hodder and has spoken to them briefly."
