I'm a beauty pro – I tried the 'best' mascaras on the market & one's far too hyped but another's a must-buy | The Sun

IT’S a make-up essential for lots of people – but which mascaras are actually the best on the market?

One beauty pro decided to answer this question once and for all, as she tried and tested some of the most popular ones to see if they really lived up to the hype.

And it was a mixed result, as beauty influencer Jess – who rates everything from skincare to lipsticks – discovered.

Jess, aka TikTok’s @lifebyjessica, explained: “If you’re confused about which mascara to choose, this is going to be your guide on which ones are the best and the worst because I have tried hundreds.”

She then launched into a detailed review of three particular brands of mascara, offering her honest verdict as she went.

First up, Jess reached for the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, which comes in metallic pink packaging and retails for around £25 in places like Boots.

Jess’ thoughts? She revealed: “I believe it is way too hyped up.

“It didn’t lengthen or volumise and did not stay all day. It also bled on my under eyes.”

She then simply added: “No thank you!”

But there was better news around the corner, as Jess said her next two fared much better than the last.

Jess continued: “Next, we’re going to have to start off really strong with my favourite mascara on the market right now – it is the Rare Beauty Mascara.

“It gives gorgeous volume and length to the lashes. It stays all day.”

And she said it had the “mega plus” of being “super easy to take off at night” – something beauty lovers will know isn’t always the case.

She added of the product, which can be bought at places like Space NK for £21: “It’s a must buy.”

I believe it is way too hyped up

Last on Jess’ list was the cheapest item yet – L’oreal Lash Paradise, which costs around £12.99 – and one she said was just as good as the previous.

She revealed: “This one is a total Rare Beauty alternative.

“It gives volume, it gives length, it also stays all day. And the brushes are so similar.”

And it didn’t take long for fellow mascara fans to seek out the video and comment, with some saying they’ve got similar thoughts.
