BBC Breakfast's Jon Kay leaves co-host groaning as swipe at Carol Kirkwood seriously backfires | The Sun

BBC Breakfast's Jon Kay left his Sally Nugent unimpressed as his joke about Carol Kirkwood fell flat.

BBC Breakfast presenters Jon Kay and Sally Nugent presented the Tuesday morning news, where they spoke on general matters, including the recent Israel-Gaza attacks, mental health, sports and entertainment.

While sitting on the big red sofa, the pair were joined by weather forecaster Carol Kirkwood, who was feeling a little under the weather but managed to get the job done.

During the show, Jon took a cheeky swipe at Carol Kirkwood after she struggled to get her words out while presenting the weather segment.

As she concluded the end of her second report of the show, Carol cleared her throat and handed it back over to the duo sitting down.

Unable to keep his joke to himself, Jon teased: "Thank you, Carol, was that a Shetland pony with you there?"

Carol looked around, confused and asked: "Where? What? Where?"

Also confused, Sally echoed: "What are you talking about?"

Beaming at his joke, he calmly quibbed: "You are a little 'horse'…"

To which Sally exclaimed: "Oh, stop!"

Carol laughed at the joke and said: "Oh Jon! Your jokes don't get any better!" and left him to add: "They will only get worse Carol as the week goes on."

The weather reporter then said her goodbyes before exiting as Sally said: "Poor Carol… she has been singing again, hasn't she!"

Jon couldn't help himself and added another swipe: "Let's hope not."

53-year-old Jon and Carol are very familiar with each other on set and regularly joke back and forth, as during her earlier report, he was once again pulling her leg, which they all ended up laughing about.

Struggling to get her words out, Carol joked: "I am off to put my false teeth back in Sal and Jon," as Sally praised: "I knew exactly what you meant, Carol, we both knew what you meant."

Jon teased: "Do you want to borrow mine?" which left Carol immediately reply: "No, thank you!"

Show viewers took to X(Twitter) and commented on the relationship between Jon and Carol as one user expressed: "I love the banter between Jon and Carol! They are so natural with one another. Nothing is ever forced."

Another added: "Carol and Jon have my heart! Their relationship is so cute."

Third said: "I aspire to have a relationship like Jon and Carol one day… they are so cute and funny with one another."
