Strictly Come Dancing's Adam Thomas might 'struggle' on the dancefloor next week as he isn’t feeling ‘as strong or confident’ due to a number of setbacks relating to illness.
The 35-year-old Waterloo Road star hasn't had the easiest of times on the hit show, having been diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis months before starting, and being forced to miss important training due to illness.
On Saturday 28 October, Adam and his professional partner Luba Mushtuk found themselves in the bottom two couples with ex-Love Islander Zara McDermott, 26, and Graziano Di Prima, 29, but were ultimately saved by the judges.
Body language expert Darren Stanton has analysed last weekend’s Strictly performances and says he suspects Adam's confidence in himself is sliding.
“Adam and Luba will struggle next week. I think we've seen Adam reach his time in terms of any more progress as a dancer. I can't see him wowing the judges this week, but if he is able to, he will need to pull something out of the bag," Darren said, speaking on behalf of Betfair Casino.
"What people admire about Adam is his enthusiasm and passion for being in the competition, which does go a long way. When we see Adam and Luba dance together, there are fewer instances of engaged eye contact, and I can see his nerves creeping in.
"I get a sense he's not feeling as strong as he did when we first saw him in the competition. There has been a knock to his confidence, but Luba has brought out a really good side to him that keeps on going. They have a very close relationship and have a strong trust in one another.“
OK! has contacted Adam's reps for comment.
Strictly fans were fuming that Adam was in the dance-off on the last show, and took to X – formerly known as Twitter – to express their dismay.
One wrote: "Adam is incredible and has improved so much. He shouldn't even be in the Dance Off", while another added: "Adam – never!!! Rigged!!!"
A third fan wrote: "It’s not only the boxing which is fixed so is Strictly. Adam & Luba should not have been in the dance off."
Another person wrote: ""Gobsmacked Adam was in the dance off."
Following the couples performing once again, judge Craig Revel Horwood said: “For me one couple did remarkably well and nailed that routine. That couple is Adam and Luba.”
Motsi Mabuse made the same decision, nevertheless praising both couples for their routines. “Well I feel there was definitely a fighting spirit from both couples, I think both couples improved remarkably, they were both stunning,” she said.
