Americans will pay their respects to Rosalynn Carter as her body lies in repose at the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum in Atlanta, Georgia on Monday.
The former first lady passed November 19 at the age of 96 at her home in Plains, Georgia alongside her husband of 77 years, President Jimmy Carter, 99.
Family members and current and former U.S. Secret Service assigned to Rosalynn’s detail gathered as her casket departed Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia on Monday morning where wreaths were laid for the former first lady.
The Secret Service agents carried her casket and walked alongside the hearse motorcade carrying her body as it departed the Rosalynn Carter Health and Human Sciences Complex at Georgia Southwestern State University.

Members of the Carter family, including Jimmy and Rosalynn’s daughter Amy and son James ‘Chip,’ paused by the statue of their mother at the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center during the wreath laying ceremony on Monday morning.
Jimmy Carter was not spotted in the motorcade from Americus to Atlanta, according to AJC.
The repose for Rosalynn Carter follows the wreath laying ceremony – and will include an opportunity for members of the public to view the casket.
On Tuesday there is a scheduled tribute church service for invited guests only.
And on Wednesday, Carter’s funeral will be held at the Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains followed by an internment at the family’s Georgia residence.
Rosalynn’s death came days after she entered at-home hospice care and months after her family disclosed in May that she had dementia.
The Carter Center announced in February that former president Carter entered hospice care at home after deciding to decline additional medical intervention.

Rosalynn is survived by her husband of 77 years, their four children, 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
The couple’s children were all present at the wreath-laying on Monday along with several other members of the family.
The Carter’s had three sons – John William (Jack), James Earl III (Chip), Donnel Jeffrey (Jeff) – and a daughter, Amy Lynn.
