To accessorise, Maxima donned two-toned black and grey heeled pumps and floral earrings.
Elsewhere, her husband, King Willem-Alexander, opted for a simple navy suit with a pastel blue tie.
The couple put on a cheerful display while smiling for a group photograph with the attendees.
To mark the occasion, the royal house wrote: ‘His Majesty the King and Her Majesty Queen Máxima will receive a dozen Dutch people at Noordeinde Palace on Wednesday, November 1, for an in-depth discussion about the letters they previously wrote to the King or Queen Máxima.
‘The members of the Royal House receive more than ten thousand letters every year. These are all handled and stored with the intervention of the King’s Office and the Royal Household.
‘By entering into discussions with a number of the letter writers, the Royal Couple wants to listen to people’s concerns and discuss with them further about the possibilities they see to strengthen society.
‘People were chosen who show commitment to a wide variety of themes, such as solidarity, social security, housing and climate.’

It comes after Queen Maxima and King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands arrived in Pretoria for their first state visit of South Africa last month.
And the royal duo looked happier than ever as they posed for photographs on a road blooming with blossom trees.
Maxima stunned in a colourblock dress by Zeus + Dione, which she previously wore during a three-day state visit to Greece in 2022.
The mother-of-three could be seen giggling as the couple were positioned in front of a magnificent backdrop of jacaranda trees.
Pretoria is widely known as Jacaranda City due to its vast number of trees, which turn the landscape blue and purple when they flower in Spring.
