It’s hard to believe it’s been three years since Coronavirus struck, with the first UK lockdown now just a solemn memory for many of us – but one rising star who made the most of being stuck inside is TikTok sensation, GK Barry.
The 23 year old star shot to fame at the height of the pandemic, with her irreverent videos and charming personality soon winning over legions of fans on the social media platform.
In fact, she proved to be so popular with fans, that she racked up over one million followers in just over a year, despite being limited in the type of content she could actually produce in lockdown.
Clearly proving she is unafraid of a challenge, GK has decided to push herself to the limit on Channel 4 show Don’t Look Down for SU2C, where the social media sensation will be tasked with conquering her fear of height in a series of death-defying challenges, alongside a host of other stars including Coronation Street legend Beverley Callard and Top Gear presenter Paddy McGuinness.
But who is GK Barry?
Although many fans know her best as GK Barry, the TikTok star’s name is actually Grace Keeling and she is a 23 year old influencer who shot to fame during the first Covid-19 lockdown back in March 2020.
Initially, Grace had only intended to post short vlogs and stories about her day to day life, in the hope of beating lockdown boredom, but her posts soon began to gain traction with more and more people taking comfort in her daily activities.
By August 2020, just five months after launching her TikTok account, Grace had already passed the 100,000 follower mark, with the star finally hitting the one million follower milestone in just over a year.
In addition to her social media presence, Grace also studied for a degree in film studies from Nottingham Trent University, before further boosting her education with a masters in digital marketing, something it appears she already has a natural flair for.
While studying at NTU, the rising star also undertook work experience on the set of BBC soap Doctors, and even Netflix film Hood, in addition to producing content for a mental health awareness project run by ShawMind.
What is she best know for?
While ‘social media star’ may seem like a broad label and is indeed what first shot GK to fame, these days she is best known for her podcast: The Saving Grace Podcast.
Each week, Grace invited a different celebrity or influencer onto the show to chat about their life, the latest news and trends – and of course any memorable or embarrassing anecdotes!
Among some of her recent guests are stars such as TOWIE’s Chloe Brockett, This Morning and Great British Bake Off host Alison Hammond, and even Youtube sensation Calfreezy.
Much like her TikTok account, the podcast has proven to be an instant success with fans, with the weekly episodes frequently topping multiple charts.
Mysterious love life
One popular question when it comes to Grace’s life off screen, is whether or not the star is single, however sadly ladies and gentleman, she TikTok star appears to be off the market as she frequently makes reference to her relationship on her podcast and in videos.
At this time, it is currently unknown who exactly she is dating however as she has yet to publicly confirm any relationship.
She was previously linked to events manager George Taylor however, with a now-deleted post, seemingly having confirmed their relationship back in 2021.
Don't Look Down for SU2C airs Wednesday at 9.15pm on Channel 4 and 4OD
