On May 9, 2022, Abi took to Instagram to share with her followers that she has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer.

The actress went on to explain how she had previously visited doctors to get two lumps in her neck tested, but was told there was nothing wrong.

However, she wanted to get a second opinion for "peace of mind".

Abi continued: "I'd previously been sent away from the doctors after having found two lumps in my neck, they'd passed it off and said I was 'young' and it wouldn't be anything and I was 'probably getting over a cold' or my body was 'fighting something off'.

"As much as that's what I wanted to hear I wanted to get everything checked for my own peace of mind."

After meeting with a specialist, she was told that the lumps were a cause for concern and that she would require surgery and radiotherapy.

The stunning actress got engaged earlier this year to her partner of 11 years.

She shared her very exciting engagement news with her legion of fans, as she flashed her ring.

The star cuddled up to her new fiancé as they posed with stunning Italian settings in the background.

She wrote: “So this happened last night!
