Among the changes coming to Haunted Mansion includes enhanced theming on the queue, a new retail shop and some updates to the plaza right outside the attraction.

For the queue, there will be new gardens inspired by Master Gracey, Madame Leota and the one-eyed cat, and will include unique elements like a water fountain, a gazebo and themed statuary and landscaping. There will also be a new greenhouse in view where the groundskeepers grow their plants.

Things in the queue that will remain are the horse-drawn funeral hearse and the pet cemetery that you see towards the beginning of the queue.

As for that new retail shop, Madame Leota will have more of a presence outside of the Haunted Mansion, with her carriage house outside the mansion being a standalone shop.

Outside of the attraction, the plaza near the new Tiana’s Palace (which opens September 7th) will be enhanced with a “new, elegant park-like setting,” perfect for relaxing and enjoying the ambiance and live entertainment. There will even be new and historic tress to provide shade!

Construction will begin in January and more will be revealed in the new year.

If you missed it, over at Disney California Adventure, the new San Fransokyo Square is opening this week!
