Linda Nolan trying not to panic as family news is like punch in the stomach

Loose Women: Coleen Nolan breaks down in tears over Linda's cancer

Linda Nolan, who has been diagnosed with incurable cancer, has admitted she is “trying not to panic” after learning some big news from her family that felt like “a punch in the stomach”.

After being told that her family would be moving further away from her, the 64-year-old singer admitted she was devastated by the thought of “not seeing them again”.

Linda is famed for being a part of the singing group the Nolans in the 1970s alongside sisters Anne, Denise, Maureen, Bernie and Coleen.

The star recently revealed that the terrible disease has “spread to her brain” and is now battling new symptoms that make her confused and forgetful.

She has confessed that, while she struggles with her worsening memory, it has been hard to learn that some of her nieces and nephews will be moving abroad.

“Ciara (my niece) is heading off and travelling in January, plus my nephew Danny, his wife and family, including gorgeous baby Marlie, will also be moving overseas,” she shared in her new column for the Mirror

“News like this is so difficult. You’re over the moon for them and yet, when I say goodbye, I know I might not see them again.

“That’s the elephant in the room. But I wouldn’t want them to say they’re not going. They have to go for it. You have to go for life.

“And as much as I felt I’d been punched in the stomach when I learnt the news, as much as I want them here with me, I also want them to live.”

Elsewhere in the article, Linda revealed she was getting more forgetful, sharing: “I’m not going to panic because, if I panic, cancer wins.

“But I still need to be realistic, and while I can’t fear my every ailment (yes, I do have curly Ken Dodd hair on one side now – I accept it), the reality is, my memory seems to be getting worse.”

In 2020, Linda revealed a third recurrence of cancer in her liver, following treatment in 2006 for breast cancer, and later shared that it had spread to her brain.

Linda is not the only Nolan sister to suffer from cancer, as her sister Coleen recently opened up about her own skin cancer scare on Loose Women.

Tragically, Bernie Nolan died of breast cancer in 2013 at the age of 52, while their sister Anne was also diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time three years ago and is now cancer-free.
