Neil Morrissey and Amanda Holden had a five week affair back in 2000 and, although Amanda insisted it was “just about sex”, it was soon followed by the break-up of her marriage to 2023 Strictly Come Dancing contestant Les Dennis.
Now Neil has raised the thorny topic during an appearance on the Restless Natives podcast alongside Line of Duty’s Martin Compston and co-presenter Gordon Smart.
The 61-year-old actor raised eyebrows with the lifestyle advice he delivered: “Don’t p*** into the wind. A gentleman’s socks should always match his shoes. Don’t f*** a game-show host’s wife.”
Meanwhile, shortly after the illicit affair and split from Les, Amanda revealed the number one reason why she’d made the decision to leave him for good.
Amanda had been just 24 when she tied the knot with the Family Fortunes host, who was almost twice her age – and by the time she hit 30, she’d become “broody”.

“I terribly want children but I didn’t want to have them with Les,” she explained, admitting she knew it was “a horribly brutal thing to say”, but that she was certain it was time to “move on”.
She went on to wed record producer Chris Hughes, and the first of their two children together was born when she was 34.
Amanda and Les both admitted to affairs during their marriage, while Amanda later agonised to Woman and Home that she feared being seen as a “gold digger” and couldn’t bear not to be liked.
“I had divorced a national treasure and very publicly had an affair, so I think a lot of people must have thought I was a bit of a minx – not least because if you’re a woman you’re somehow not allowed to do that kind of thing,” she continued.

However, she insisted that she was “a relationship person” with the right man.
Meanwhile, Neil revealed on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories back in 2014 that although he was apologetic about the affair, he’d never expressed that to Les directly.
“I didn’t [apologise]. I’m not positive over what there is to apologise about,” he told Piers.
“I don’t know what the whole situation was, to be perfectly fair to everybody.”
However, he then conceded: “I feel sorry for how the situation was dealt with and I feel sorry for how emotional Les seemed to become. It was very difficult for him and for that I’m sorry.”
Meanwhile, Amanda has let it be known that she’s urged her daughters not to make similar mistakes to the ones she feels she’d made, and to try to have children before age 25.
“My big hope for them is that they find the person they want to be with first time,” she explained to the aforementioned publication.
She added that if daughter Lexi waits until age 40, Amanda won’t be welcoming her first grandchild until she’s 80.
“The only advice I’ll give them about men is ‘Don’t get married before you are 24, but please have children before you’re 25!'” she exclaimed.
