Holly Willoughby hugs co-host Alison Hammond as she returns to This Morning after summer

Holly Willoughby is back on our screens today as she has returned to This Morning after her summer break.

For her first day back, Holly, 42, is hosting alongside Alison Hammond.

The pair hugged as they appeared on screen for the first time, with the show kicking off with a performance of ABBA songs in the sunshine outside the London studio.

Holly looked gorgeous in a black and white polka dot dress, sharing a full-length look at her outfit ahead of the show.

Posing backstage, mum-of-three Holly revealed how excited she was to be back at work on the ITV programme.

She wrote: “And just like that… it’s back to school… can’t wait to see you!!! @thismorning 10am @itv #hwstyle dress by @purecollection.”

Alison looked gorgeous and summery for her day of hosting the show, in a green co-ord with a yellow T-shirt underneath.

During her summer break, Holly spent some time in Portugal with her family, including husband Dan and her three children.

Holly did make a brief return to This Morning last week when she appeared in a promotional video for Midsomer Murders.

The Dancing on Ice host made a guest appearance on the ITV drama and had filmed behind-the-scenes clips for This Morning.

In the clip, she can be heard saying: "Total transparency, it was a scene I hadn't actually noticed in my script because I was so focused on the three lines that I had later. I didn't realise.

"I had to say 'excuse me,' so when I walked in and everybody was running their lines, I was like: 'Where is this, in here?' Thankfully, it was only shots of the back of my head! So, so far, so good!"

The presenter was delighted to land the acting role, describing it as a “dream come true.”

"This truly was a dream come true… Thank you to the whole team at Midsomer Murders for making me so welcome and really looking after me… I loved every second.

"Tomorrow there is a behind-the-scenes look at what we got up to on @thismorning and then Sunday 8 pm the episode, The Witches of Angels Rise, broadcasts on @itv," she wrote on Instagram.

Along with Holly, other ITV presenters made their return to work today, including Lorraine Kelly and Susanna Reid.

Susanna debuted her new hairstyle as she hosted Good Morning Britain with Ed Balls.

The host has traded her long locks in for a shorter bob with some blonde highlights.
