I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here hosts Ant and Dec have slammed claims that the ITV show is "fixed" after Nella Rose was made camp leader.
The 26-year-old was appointed camp leader with former EastEnders actress Danielle Harold as her deputy.
The YouTuber said she had "come to restore justice" and wasted no time in getting revenge on Fred Sirieix as she adjusted into her new jungle role. Nella won her position after a secret ballot, and quickly assigned First Dates star Fred and Nigel Farage the task of cleaning and washing-up.
Although Nella bagged her role as camp leader fair and square, some I'm A Celeb viewers accused the vote of being "obvious" and claimed the ITV show was "fixed" in Nella's favour.
Ant McPartlin has now taken the rare opportunity to hit back at the accusations. He explained: "I saw a few people on social media say that it was obvious [that Nella was voted camp leader].
"No, it wasn’t. It was a complete blind vote which they’ve done down there, it was completely up to the campmates. Not up to anybody here in production."
The Geordie host then added: "They obviously enjoy her in camp and think that she needs to be camp leader and we like it because it’s great for the show". While Declan Donnelly added: "It’s great content."
It comes after the ITV show was forced to address their behaviour on social media after it was revealed they had "liked" a hateful comment about I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! contestant Nella.
The statement from the network read: “Yesterday we accidentally liked a comment on Instagram while scrolling down through viewer comments
“The post in question contained unacceptable language about one of our campmates and we apologise for the mistake made and any offence caused.
“We seek to champion all our campmates and would always urge our audience to be kind when commenting on social media."
I'm A Celebrity airs on ITV and ITVX everyday at 9pm
