The actress who once played Coronation Street's Tracy Barlow is completely unrecognisable, 24 years after leaving the show.
Now 45 years old, Dawn Acton first introduced us to the naughty schoolgirl character who entertained viewers with her dramatic storylines in the 80s and 90s.
She left the soap when Tracy married Robert Preston, after nearly dying from an ecstasy overdose. She auditioned again for the role when the character returned in 2003, but lost out to Kate Ford.
Kate is now best known for playing the scheming Tracy on the cobbles, a role she's had on and off since 2002.
Tracy has blackmailed longtime resident Roy Cropper, been convicted of murder (and murdered several people, including her then boyfriend Charlie Stubbs) and been caught stealing other residents’ credit cards in order to scam them.
Twenty three years later, Dawn has a very different career as a DJ and volunteers at children's charity Beanstalk. In 2016, she said: "Obviously I do miss working in Corrie but I do find the work I do now very rewarding."
She added: "The fact is I believe everyone should have the chance to learn to read. I still do DJ-ing but I like volunteering for Beanstalk as I supported children to read about things they were interested in and for them to be able to get enjoyment from it."
She continued: "When my son was young and I wasn't working as much through the day I had some time on my hands and I love reading and it's all about trying to help children understand that reading isn't necessarily a chore."
As a youngster, she was a pupil at Stamford High School in Ashton-under-Lyne and trained at the Oldham Theatre Workshop.
One of the features of Dawn's time on the show was the bitter relationship she had with her on-screen mum, Deirdre.
She said: "She was always so great with kids and she just had a really funny sense of humour, we got on immediately and had lots of fun together. She did see me grow up and she was always really supportive."
Tracy's role was played by Christabel Finch when she was a baby and Holly Chamarette for the toddler years.
