Dame Joan Collins gets emotional speaking on sister's breast cancer
Joan Collins was visibly choked up when speaking about her late sister Jackie Collins.
Author and actress Jackie Collins died two weeks before her 78th birthday in 2015 after being diagnosed with stage four cancer in 2009.
The star decided to keep her condition a secret, even from her sister, as Jackie’s daughter Tiffany Lerman said after her death her mother didn’t want people feeling sorry for her.
Appearing on Thursday’s instalment of Loose Women, Joan recalled the moment she learnt of her sister’s cancer diagnosis.
Speaking to the panel, she said: “It was about six weeks before she died, she said, ‘I’ve got stage four breast cancer’.

“I said, ‘Well haven’t you been having mammograms like I’ve been telling you to have, like I’ve been nagging you for the last 20 years?’
Joan told the Loose Women panel her sister confessed she didn’t want to have the mammograms.
Explaining more on her sister’s diagnosis, Joan shared that although Jackie felt a lump, she thought it would go away.
Started to get choked up, Joan continued: “Even if I think about it, you know I feel upset about it.

“That is what all women should know, they should see if they have a lump and they should get themselves checked.”
Before being given a huge round of applause from the audience, Joan revealed that she checks all the time.
Their conversation comes as October marks breast cancer awareness month as Joan confessed she also lost her mother to the disease.
Echoing the importance of being checked, panellist Charlene White told viewers: “Don’t miss those appointments when they come through.”
Shortly after Jackie’s death, her daughters Tiffany and Rory Green paid tribute to their mother when speaking to ITV’s Lorraine.
Rory confessed there was a time the family almost forgot the cancer was terminal as she was doing so well with living.
Tiffany said: “’She wanted to show people you can live a healthy and full life.
“So she went out and she wrote more books, she travelled and she didn’t let the cancer define the way she lived.’
Loose Women continues weekdays on ITV from 12.30pm.
