Who is Janet Street-Porter?

Broadcaster Janet Street-Porter was born on December 27, 1946, in Brentford in Middlesex, and is a TV star and journalist.

After dropping out of college, she took up a job at Petticoat Magazine.

The talented writer became the deputy fashion editor of the Daily Mail in 1969 and fashion editor of the Evening Standard two years later.

Janet has also worked for LBC local radio station, Sell Out and the Independent on Sunday.

Janet started her television career at London Weekend Television in 1975, first as a presenter of a series of mainly youth-oriented programmes.

However, her TV career has moved on massively since then, and she has become a very familiar face on the box.

Janet's competitive nature has been brought out on several reality shows, as she finished I'm A Celebrity in fourth place (2004) and came third on Celebrity MasterChef (2013)

The TV personality has also appeared on QI, Question Time and Have I Got News For You.

Is Janet Street-Porter married?

Janet is not married, but she is in a long term relationship.

However, the TV star has been wed before, and has FOUR ex-husbands.

While studying architecture, Janet married fellow student and photographer Tim Street-Porter. They were together until 1975, when she went on to marry Time Out editor Tony Elliott.

Her third marriage was to film director Frank Cvitanovich, who was 19 years her senior, before her final brief marriage in her fifties to a then 27-year-old David Sorkin.

In an interview with The Guardian, Janet revealed an insight into her love life, when she said: “I’ve been married four times and lived with a lot of blokes – I know how men’s minds work.

“What have all the men I’ve been with got in common? They’re all pathetically grateful.”

The usually straight talking Janet also revealed her sentimental side, when talking about her ex-husbands.

She said on Loose Women: “Wedding rings, engagement rings, yes I’ve got them all filed in a chest of drawers.”

Meanwhile since 1999, Janet has been in a relationship with former restauranteur and entrepreneur Peter Spanton.

However, the couple keep their relationship out of the spotlight.

Does Janet Street-Porter have any children?

Janet does not have any kids, and has maintained in her columns that “there’s no stigma in choosing not to breed”.

“I don’t miss having kids,” she wrote in one piece. “Men are far more demanding – especially creative, imaginative men who live in their own heads. I have certainly enjoyed the dramas and the delights of their company.

“I wouldn’t swap a smart man for a toddler or a goldfish.
