Watch Kim Kardashian in first American Horror Story trailer

Season 12 of American Horror Story, subtitled Delicate, has unleashed a brand-new trailer.

Featuring reality TV royalty Kim Kardashian in her first dramatic role as Siobhan Walsh, the footage teases a freaky ulterior motive for her character as she supports A-lister and good pal Anna Victoria Alcott (played by franchise regular Emma Roberts) in her challenging pursuit of pregnancy.

"You have a peculiar penchant for turning dreams into nightmares," Siobhan tells Anna, who seems to be experiencing deranged, terrifying visions.

Next appears Only Murders in the Building star Cara Delevingne as both the nurse responsible for checking over the growth of Anna's baby, and the pallid spectre stalking her every move on the streets.

Star Wars' Billie Lourd, True Blood actor Denis O'Hare and Pose's Michaela Jaé Rodriguez co-star.

Commenting on Kim's, 42, major casting earlier this year, American Horror Story mastermind Ryan Murphy told The Hollywood Reporter in a statement: "Kim is among the biggest and brightest television stars in the world and we are thrilled to welcome her to the AHS family.

"Emma and I are excited about collaborating with this true force in the culture. Halley Feiffer has written a fun, stylish and ultimately terrifying role especially for Kim, and this season is ambitious and unlike anything we have ever done."

Despite an undeniable buzz of excitement surrounding the news, one person who didn't appreciate Kim's involvement was screen veteran Patti LuPone, who herself appeared across two seasons of the scary anthology.

Stopping by US talkshow What Happens Live with Andy Cohen back in May, the 74 year old took part in the 'Do! They! Give a Damn!?' segment with fellow guest John Leguizamo, as the host brought up Kim's surprise casting.

"Yes I do [give a damn]!" Patti declared with gritted teeth. When the host asked: "You don't like it, do you?" Patti confirmed rather frankly: "No I don't!"

"Why? Because she's taking a role away from other actors?" responded Andy, 54.

"Excuse me, excuse me… Kim, you know, what are you doing with your life? Don't get on the stage Mrs. Worthington," replied the star – who'll turn up in Marvel Cinematic Universe series Agatha: Darkhold Diaries next year as Lilia Calderu – alluding to the Noël Coward song discouraging a stage mum from allowing her daughter to embark on a stage career.

John, 63 – most famous for voicing Sid the sloth in the Ice Age films – concurred: "Whatever she said and double the emotion!"

Elsewhere, a three-part Sky documentary titled House of Kardashian is just a matter of weeks away from premiering, and in the trailer Kim's ex-stepmother Caitlyn Jenner claims she "calculated" her fame.

A few months before the debut series of Keeping Up with the Kardashians aired, the mum-of-four sensationally soared into the worldwide spotlight when her sex tape with Ray J leaked online.

A second contributor to the documentary can be heard saying: "The sex tape was a means to an end. It was to create a controversy."
