ACTRESS Martha Cope is swapping Walford for the Dales.

The soap star – who has also appeared in Coronation Street – is known for EastEnders but has landed a job on Emmerdale.

Who is Martha Cope?

Martha Cope is a actress, who is best known for her work on British soaps.

Over the years she has starred in the big three UK soaps – Coronation Street, EastEnders, and now Emmerdale.

But she's not the only TV star in her family, as her dad has also appeared in Corrie.

Her father Kenneth Cope also had a role in the ITV soap opera.

Martha previously played the role of Sandy Gibson on EastEnders, the mother of Dotty Cotton.

Opening up about her EastEnders role, Martha said at the time: "I have watched EastEnders since it began and I'm beyond excited to join such an iconic show and having a great time playing Sandy."

Sandy's previous alcohol problems led her to a fleeting relationship with nasty Nick Cotton (John Altman), in which she became pregnant with Dotty and originally kept her secret.

The character had previously been seen in 2010 when Dotty was a child but was then played by actress Caroline Pegg.

When did Martha Cope first appear in Emmerdale?

Martha played DC Morden in Emmerdale between 2013 to 2014 investigating a fire at Home Farm.

But soon she will arrive in the Dales, portraying new character.

Viewers will watch as she meets Gail at the allotment in a desperate state.

As Gail attempts to help the mysterious woman, she is shaken when she hears some bad news about a person called Oscar.

For now, no further details have been released about Martha's character.

An Emmerdale source previously told us: “Martha will appear later this year and kick off a huge storyline.

“She’s making a guest appearance but she has an unmatched soap pedigree so she’s bound to impress fans.”

What other TV shows has Martha Cope been in?

Martha had a brief stint in Coronation Street in 2015 and 2016, playing Joanne, a woman who dated Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell).
