I was addicted to my vape – these are my five simple steps to giving it up
- A TikTok user has posted a video sharing their five key steps to give up vaping
A woman who said she was able to give up vaping despite being heavily reliant on the habit has shared the five steps that helped her give up.
Posting a video on TikTok, @cassidychristine_ said she was ‘addicted’ and even struggled to stay asleep for the whole night without using her vape.
Cassidy said she would use the device at almost any given time of day, from when she woke to other instances, such as if she went shopping.
Revealing her first tip for people trying to quit vaping, she said: ‘You gotta throw it away…throw the vape in the trash right now, go do it’.
Addressing potential withdrawals symptoms that some users may suffer from, she continued: ‘Understand that you’re gonna be angry for weeks, you might even get sick’.

Her second tip concerned the hand motion of constantly reaching for a disposable vape and how to combat its absence.
Cassidy said anyone looking to quit vaping should replace it with ‘gum, candy…whatever you need to get you through, for at least a month and a half’.
In her next tip, she urged users to reward themselves for any progress they make when it comes to quitting, potentially doing so as often as every day so they do not feel the need to go back to vaping.
Cassidy’s penultimate tip encouraged individuals to track the progress they have made when attempting to quit, as she said: ‘Write [your progress] down if you have to, write the start date and just track your progress’.
Her fifth and final tip also concerned possible withdrawal symptoms, which she addressed by stating: ‘Give yourself the space [to withdraw]. Give yourself the space and the grace because it is not pretty’.
She finished the video by admitting that quitting the habit was ‘the best thing [she] had ever done for [herself]’.
The video – which has been viewed more than six million times on TikTok – saw users agree that vaping was extremely difficult to quit, but that some had managed to do so successfully.
One user commented: ‘2 weeks in and honestly I’ve never had a worse flu in YEARS. It’s so hard but it’s so worth it!!!!’
A second added: ‘Quit alcohol, vaping and cigarettes all at once. Vaping was the hardest of them all.’
Another wrote: ‘2 years without vaping’.
A huge increase in the number of children and teenagers who have taken up vaping could see the Government restrict vape flavours, regulate their packaging and change their point of sale displays, and even ban the devices completely. Pictured: File image of a woman vaping
It comes as disposable vapes could be banned in the UK, amid fears they risk hooking a new generation of youngsters on nicotine.
The proposals to ban disposable vapes in the UK are partly on environmental grounds, with around 844million vaping devices dumped worldwide each year – the same weight as six Eiffel Towers.
Along with environmental concerns, the proposed vaping ban could come into force because of a surge in popularity among youngsters, with one in five secondary school pupils reported to have tried vaping this year. This number has trebled in the last three years.
