Gogglebox fans have been left devastated after the Malone family announced their beloved dog Dave had sadly passed away, with many paying tribute to the late pooch on social media.
On Wednesday, Julie, took to Instagram to announce the sad news as she shared a sweet tribute video of the Rottweiler, and later that same day, her son Tom Malone Jr, 30, posted a touching tribute to Dave on his own Instagram account, saying he is "heartbroken".
"Heartbroken to let you guys know that Dave has sadly left us today…I think we can all agree that there will never be another one like him. Rest Easy Dave," Tom penned alongside a photo of him and Dave.
Dozens of TV fans flocked to share their support for the Malones, with Tom's post quickly racking up hundreds of comments. Many paid tribute to Dave, while some even wondered if the much-loved pet would be in 'Gogglebox heaven' along with other late contestants, such as June and Leon, who passed away in 2017.
"Aww Rest In Peace Dave, You will be truly missed , I wonder if he will be on the Heaven Version of Gogglebox along with Leon and June and all the others that have left us," one fan wrote. "Sending Big Hugs to you all at this hard and sad time."
A second said: "Oh no. So sorry for your loss. Sending all my love to you and your family x," while a third wrote: "Heartbreaking, they leave such big paw prints on our hearts. Your rottis have done so much to show the fun loving side of the breed. Rest in paradise Dave".
A fourth fan penned: "So sorry to hear about Dave," and a fifth Instagram user commented: "So sorry for the loss of Dave. Loved seeing him on tv. X".
This is not the first heartbreak the Malone family has faced as they also said goodbye to another family dog in 2021, after their pooch Izzie sadly passed. Izzie was also a Rottweiler who appeared on the show alongside the rest of the family's dogs.
Tom broke the news of Izzy's passing on social media, telling fans at the time: "Very sorry to let you all know that sadly Izzie passed away today. She was a great dog and we'll miss her dearly".
In September 2022, following the deaths of beloved pets Izzie and Frankie, the dog-mad family also melted viewers' hearts when they welcomed a new puppy called Tilly to their home.
Announcing that yet another Rottweiler would be joining them, they shared a picture of the adorable puppy and said: "We are proud to announce our new addition, Tilly, isn't she beautiful?"
